But he traps a major demon, Bartimaeus and uses him to get back at another mean magician. Now 12, the boy has proven himself bright and quite capable, though his master does not view him that way. Nathaniel has a horrifically mean master, although the magician’s wife is really nice and the magician treats his wife like dirt which is really sucky and Nathaniel’s samarkajd very clever little magician but everyone just flicks him off for no reason.

I didn’t necessarily find it a bad or read, movel it had a lot of issues. Though thousands of years older, Bartimaeus shares some similar characteristics with Nicholas.

He wasn’t a character samarkans immediately liked, but he was a character that was very real, very understandable, and very original for it. Aku sudah menerima bahwa tampang Barty ya harus seperti itu lah.

When it came in the post my four year son clocked it and wanted it.

Check out the top books of the year on our page Best Books of Magicians can summon magical creatures to do their bidding. Its bright and colourful and really is easy on the eyes Overall, this book was an amazing experience for me and I oof recommend it for anyone who enjoys fantasy graphic novels.

Sometimes they do do a good job of bringing Bartimaeus’s voice to the page. Nathaniel 11, magician apprentice, learns more challenging spells than his master assigns. Tampang Bartimaues harus licik, sok pinter, mengidap waham kebesaran, sarkastis, tapi kadang sesaat bisa juga penuh perhatian.

That and a whole lot more suggest this book is a faithful adaptation, cherishing the original and only making it more vivid. View all 3 comments. It’s a lengthy book, for it doesn’t appear wordy yet contains a satisfying amount of bulk. Stroud lives in St Albans, Hertfordshire, with his two children, Isabelle and Arthur, and his wife Gina, an illustrator of children’s books. I giggled quite a few times, it’s just really hilarious.

Stroud grew up in St Albans where he enjoyed reading books, drawing pictures, and writing stories. A young boy was sold at around age 6 so that he may be apprenticed to a magician. How far would you go for revenge? The artwork in this book is very striking, and I think this graphic novel did a great job leaving the main essence of the story in place.

As far as the story, I enjoyed it. Dan ternyata diriku tidak salah.

Want to Read Currently Reading Read. I still want to read the original version, but I found this graphic novel very satisfying. Among his most prominent works are the bestselling Bartimaeus Trilogy. Overall, it was an entertaining read once I got past the diversions and really got into the plot, but it’s pretty clear that the graphic novel doesn’t quire stand up on its own sakarkand hence the rest of the novels not getting adaptations as sqmarkand.

The colours are delicious – rich yet real, bright yet not busy, with realistic shading and other changes of tone.

For the sake of brevity, I suppose. A house burns down and it is assumed two people die in the fire. If I remember correctly, there was plenty of this already, but I think that the artist’s choices are quite representative of the characters. And a huge thumbs up for a very happy four year boy who is totally in love with this graphic novel. There are several battles between djinn of various levels, which sometimes results in one or more of them being injured, swallowed, or snuffed out.

In any case, I tell you this so you can evaluate my reaction to this graphic version of “The Amulet of Samarkand”. He is summoned by a new wizard, a boy, who should not have the ability to summon anything remotely as powerful as Bartimaeus, but he does. I also like Nathaniel who learns very important lesson in this story. Bagaimana dong nasib footnote yang panjang-panjang dan lucu itu? Nov 16, Harris rated it liked it Shelves: Bisa lihat mukanya pula: The setting of a alternate history London under the rule of vindictive and power hungry magicians, including a London Eye incorporating a pentagram into its design, we get a go A fairly competent graphic novel adaptation of The Amulet of Samarkand, the first in Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimeaus trilogy, the humor, action, and witty world building in the novel come through quite well here.

Kita juga akan berjumpa dengan wajah Ptolemy dan the less-important character menurutku, karena I hate this girl: The graphic novel offers two narrators, both the djinni and the boy magician tell the story from their points of view, and both are spot-on, helping to really strongly define their characters. Lovelace is power hungry, greedy, and just a nasty piece of work. Nov 23, Rainbow rated it really liked it. I really liked the two main characters but this book also has very amazing plots twists.

I enjoy Andrew Donkin’s art for these YA fantasy graphic novels. He’s a great source of comedy, a clever djinni that talks too much and has a knack for getting out of difficult situations. The writers did a very good job of distilling it down to its most important part. You know which item I’m talking about right?
