JamesUK 8 yrs ago. Oh, and I’ve set up an RSS feed too, if that’s your thing; http: Added new templates for Avery reference numberwith 20 labels per sheet also suitable for reference numbers, andand Avery reference also suitable for reference numbers,,,, andfrom a request from Moody-Blue.
We just heard from Matt about the status of the prenumbereds, and this is what he told us: He’s been working on making them available again. The feature for using the numbers you already have is now in place.
561 means that your previously downloaded prenumbered BCIDs can be activated again, either by you or by a finder.
So if you have numbers on your shelf that haven’t been used, you can start doing that right now! You’ll find a list of your prenumbered and as yet unactivated BCIDs on your bookshelf if you have any.
Downloading new sets of prenumbereds is back up, too! You’ll find a ‘request’ tab when you look at your list of prenums on your bookshelf. Please notice that you’re not getting a PDF to print labels from, you’re just getting the numbers assigned to your screenname for now.
Covert 8 yrs ago. I had actually tried to do this immediately before the switch to Beta, but had computer problems at MY end, so was unsuccessful. As a result I think I “printed” a couple of new sets of numbers So now I have even more reserved numbers which I need to “reprint”. Is this possible now? Sorry, for now you can only use up those numbers by writing or typing them on blank sheets of labels. One of our members, JamesUK, has just uploaded a great set of simple, yet effective labels for download and print: I don’t think you need to worry about that.
Sorry, I’m just now seeing your edit, as I find it difficult to navigate the fora The several new groups of BCIDs being reserved for me the day before the switch was not due to any bookcrossing problems, but to my attempts to get the non-functioning printing working at my end.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear before. Thanks for the link to labels. I actually have plenty of lovely labels that I’ve purchased from the Supply Store. I just like to print out the “pre” labels onto plain paper, and use that sheet for bookkeeping purposes.
I can wait ’til the “reprinting” is available again, though. Offer to create MS Word label templates. Good to see from the odd forum posting that some people are getting use out of the Microsoft Word label sheet templates I knocked up and uploaded to share at; http: Then I’ll upload it to my page for you and anyone else to use.
I don’t expect a huge flood of requests, but do bear in mind this is a “as time allows” offer, so please don’t expect an “Instant” response. Hope that helps the cause. Moem 8 yrs ago. James, you have been doing some mighty useful stuff. I know what a Word document is and how to use and create one.
I hope you don’t mind if I ask you what ‘mail merge’ is? Not at all, although Wikipedia is your friend here; http: Best example is say you run a club with members and do a monthly newsletter.
You draft the newsletter, but yemplate want to have to manually type each person’s name and address on it, and print it singularly times. Instead, you can create one document, complete with fields like “Name” “Address Line 1”, “Address Line2” etc, and then use data from say, your Hotmail address book to “populate” those fields.
The label templates with Mail Merge work the same, except you have a data source containing all your BCID numbers, and the template “reads” this data, and “fills in” the sheets of labels accordingly for you.
Blank Label Printing Template – PDF & Doc Download
Added new templates today; Avery reference numbers andfor pin-fed continuous labels also suitable for,and reference numbers. What I started doing was taking snippets of reviews of the book I was about to release or put on the shelf, pasting these into the word bubble, then printing and cutting it out.
Print it onto thick card, cut it out, and place it between the pages of a book to see what I mean. Avery 21 per sheet, Avery 1×1 Circular 15 per sheet MS Word label templates added today. Update on your progress are always good to get, and updates on things I’ve been waiting for are even better. I’ll start using them tomorrow! Can you point me in averj right direction please I templatw see this either Go to your bookshelf and look at the links at the right hand side.
Prenumbered is last on that list. If you click it and go there, there will be a tab saying ‘request’. Moem, I apologise for being narky the other day. I was going to say I was surprised to see you’d bothered to answer my question LarmerTreeFest 8 yrs ago. This is a huge step in the wrong direction, which I have only just picked up on. I am doing a mass release at a festival and have literally hundreds of books to label for an official bookcrossing zone.
The whole point of pre-numbered labels was that they are temp, ate saving in exactly this kind of circumstance. I simply don’t have time to type in or hand write the numbers on to the labels that have kindly been provided by JamesUK.
I also leave a tin of pre-numbered labels for other festival goers to use for their own books. Are there any plans to restore the ability to print pre-numbered labels? GoryDetails 8 yrs ago. I’m sure that the option to print the labels will return However, I’ve seen some user-designed label forms that allow you to fill in the numbers before printing – they might still be available in the “user-designed labels” thread in the Activists forum.
I am using JamesUK’s labels that you can print and copy and pasting the numbers in to them from the pre-numbered labels before I print, but it does kind of defeat the object of pre-numbered labels. I do not have a single one I used them all up. Only trouble is I have wild released the books so I don’t know what will happen if 5661 tries to journal them. I am also getting low on books for wild release and I need to print templste more pre numbered labels. Yes I know you can do it by hand, but I really prefer to use the pre numbered,I just find it easier.
Any ideas when this function will be available? It looks like you didn’t activate them by writing a journal entry or a release note.
The books’ details weren’t entered. So the site has no way of knowing that 56611 did use them. Let’s hope your finders won’t find that offputting. Another possible problem with releasing books templats unactivated prenumbered BCIDs in them is the potential for mistakes.
You will zvery see a book appearing on your bookshelf that you never had or released. I always make very sure I have done a journal and release note before any book goes out the door. I know that I have journalled the books with the pre numbered labels but I really can’t figure out why it says I still have them.
I know that I don’t still have them. In that case, I can’t, either. As soon as I make a journal entry for one of mine, it disappears off my list of prenumbereds. Are there book details there? Or does it just have “Pre-Numbered” as the book title and author? Maybe the site glitched way back when and gave you multiple sets of pre-nums when you wanted and thought you got only one? I know that happened to me awhile ago years, maybe? Caterinaanna 8 tepmlate ago.
Even if sometimes it’s the door of The Old Windmill! Or shouldn’t I be telling everyone that?
Mail Merge also available Also, for those with Microsoft Word, there’s an example “Mail Merge” label template, and if you can “copy” out the pre-numbs en-masse, you should be able to “paste” them into that in one fell swoop and achieve the same result fairly quickly; http: Workarounds and ideas for mass pre-number printing I thought of this only after I’d posted my original note, and typically didn’t have access to a PC to post it until now; If you can use a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel, why not do this to “generate” your pre-numb data for a mail merge, as a way to quickly print off the “hundreds” needed; Open a blank worksheet, and type the first number of the first batch of pre-numbers into the top left cell.
Use Excel’s formula bar, and simply highlight the first cell with your starting number in, and “drag” it down to rowand “hey presto! To do this ten times for pre-numbers where they were assigned as ten batches of ‘s wouldn’t take more than 5 minutes for anyone Failing that, why not try the pre-number printing available at http: Thank you JamesUK – you are a star!
Avery 5161, Avery 5261, Avery 5661, Avery 5961, Avery 8161, Avery 8461 Compatible Template
You’re more than welcome No problems, and you’re very welcome. In reply to grubsneerg, when I click on the pre numbered labels that bookcrossing site alleges that I have. It just comes up with pre 561 as the title and author.
